Folder-143.  1920s-30s souvenir folder of the Desert of Maine in Freeport.  Covers are cream colored with a color picture of the desert on the front cover.  Descriptive text is printed inside the back cover. Panels are printed in brown ink. Folder contains 10 great views, printed one side only:
1. Buried Apple Tree which still thrives and until recently actually bore fruit
2. Spring House where thirsty visitors refresh themselves with icy water
3. Grim Sentinels in the Desert. Tree stumps in the process of petriformation
4. Buried Cherry Tree which though nearly submerged still bears fruit
5. Original old Barn – only remaining evidence that the Desert of Maine was once farmland
6. Showing section of forest being buried by sand
7. Desert panorama showing a broad arm of the Desert extending into the forest
8. Natural dune formation with deep ravine between depth estimated at 40 feet
9. Sands slowing encroaching upon original barn
10. Multiview of press headlines concerning the Desert phenomenon
Folder was never mailed. Minor corner and edge wear to the covers. Tiny nicks and wrinkles along the covers edges. Inside pictures are in Very Good condition.
