ABOUT THE MOVIE
(and the play):
ZOOT SUIT, the movie, is a film adaptation of the Broadway musical drama stage play of the same name.
Both were written and directed by LUIS VALDEZ.
The play and the film are set in the streets of the predominantly Mexican-American East Los Angeles neighborhood and recounts the events of a real-life murder trial, the Zoot Suit Riots (as they were called then), and the Mexican-American discrimination of the 1940's.
The drama/musical film version stars DANIEL VALDEZ, EDWARD JAMES OLMOS, CHARLES AIDMAN, TYNE DALY, ALMA MARTINEZ, LUPE ONTIVEROS.
The Broadway play was a cultural phenomenon in the 1970's and 80's launching the careers of many Chicano actors and actresses.
In 2019, the film was voted into the National USA Film Registry by the National Film Preservation Board.
ABOUT THE STANDEE:
Box size: 54"×23"×2" inches.
While I  did not nor do I intend to construct it (that's why you don't see a photo of it assembed - and because I couldn't find a stock photo image of it either), I did the math.
Approximate standee dimensions when constructed:
Height: About 5-1/2' feet (67" inches)
Width (at base): A little less than 5 feet (57" inches).
Depth (at base): About 1-1/2' feet (15" inches).
Condition: NEW (original 1981) MINT/NEAR MINT.
However, as I am not a professional in this area of expertise, I invite your to make your own assessment using these unfiltered photos I have provided that will illustrate any areas of note.
There are a few cardboard insert pieces that have some wear on the ends from the original shipping that, when constructed, will not be seen by anyone.
Also, the back of the pieces show some aging discoloration as does the shipping paper in between the layers of standee pieces which no one will see once properly constructed.
Includes the original instructions.
Still in original box it was shipped to the theater on the address label on the outside of this box.
The ONE and ONLY time it has been out of the box was recently to take these listing photos.
Made of: High Impact Commercial Cardboard
Image: Official images reproduced on high gloss photographic paper exclusively for theatres to display showing the film.
I was a theater assistant manager at the time of this film's release and this has been in my possession since that time.
It was never put on display.
For 40 years, the standee has been kept in a climate controlled, odor-free, smoke-free, dark storage facility.
Please let me know if you need any more photos or information.
